A Travel-Heavy October
Leaving New York!
What up y’all. Hope everyone has their Halloween costumes picked out! I’m currently on a flight back from CDMX after a very boozy week. As someone with a weak stomach, I somehow avoided food poisoning THANK GOD… (might’ve used the last of my good karma).
This particular flight runs the entire length of the U.S. West Coast, and it’s been really interesting to see the terrain change from Mexico to Texas to Nevada. We’ve just passed by some Grand Canyon lookalikes, and will be in Oregon soon.
My last day in New York was last Saturday - after 10 months of the East Coast, I’ll be squatting in SF for the next few months. To be honest, nothing’s really changing except where I spend my weekends. As for why… well, I’m in a particularly nerdy mood and I think the monoculture of SF will help. New York is very diverse and fun-loving, two qualities that I appreciate but have since deprioritized.
Latest Happenings
Boozy Brunch: This is one NYC pastime that I can confidently say, “never again.” Will spare you guys the details.
Boston: Visited Boston for a couple days and tried out the new Acela high-speed rail. Boston felt livable, fresh, and walkable. I would absolutely visit again but I’m afraid there’s not much else to do.
Kava & Kratom: Strolled into what I thought was a late-night café. It was, but coffee was not the drug of choice. Instead, the barista ordered me a double shot of Kava, which has got to be the most earthy drink I’ve ever tasted. The effects were mildly calming. I relaxed on the couch and watched a dude play on his Steam deck.
C-Pop Karaoke: Had an absolute blast at Karaoke. The secret is – you need one friend who’s super into it to get the whole crowd going.
Museums: I’ve probably been to 5 museums this past month across NYC, CDMX, and Boston. My favorite was the Museum of Anthropology in CDMX, it was absolutely jaw-dropping to see the Sun Stone.

This next section will be very barebones because the WiFi sucks on this flight and sorting through my old links is just not what I want to be doing right now.
On the theme of SF, here is a great essay that sums up the scene
Read how one guy does one-bag living here
Read about the history of Mexico City here. Canadians - don’t sleep on CDMX as a travel destination. I know there’s no good Mexican food in Vancouver to ease you into the culture, but just trust me on this…
Folks in the US, get InKind. It’s straight-up free money, like when Ubers were subsidized by VCs. Thank me later!
