Jay's 2025 So Far
Back to grooving as usual...
What’s up!
I know this issue is a bit delayed, my fault! I actually had a draft for January but scrapped it because it was too intimidating to articulate in writing all the changes & events that have transpired these past few months. To fix that, I’m just gonna let myself ramble today.
So far, it’s felt like another study abroad semester - you’re separated from 95% of your friends, you have a million administrative errands to run, and all the while you’re trying to explore the city with every minute of free time. The city itself is intoxicating. The allure makes you wonder what kind of things really go on behind closed doors every time you glimpse at the skyline. Other than hiking, there is a venue for everything.
I also think there is a big placebo effect going on. Because New York City has such a sexy reputation, it feels almost badass to live here, which then gives you the confidence and urge to go outside, do things you wouldn’t have done before - ultimately resulting in a self-fulfilling prophecy. NYC’s done a great job marketing herself, that’s for sure.
Here are some quick metrics of how I’m living:

No surprises here.
Latest Happenings
Damned Furniture: This is my first time moving into an unfurnished crib and my god I took university dorms for granted. Jeffrey and I hauled a used table down the street for twenty minutes - that was the most broke I felt, maybe ever.
NYPL Schwarzman Building: I’m usually at the Rose Reading Room at least once a week. It’s the most beautiful library I’ve ever visited.
Per Se: I ate at a 3 Michelin star. $600/pp. Flex! In all seriousness it was extremely pretentious and only mildly delicious. Imagine having two waiters - one to refill your sparkling water every time you take a sip and another to wipe every crumb from the table.
Brooklyn Basement: New York’s wannabe version of Berghain that was actually kindof legit? We saw some unspeakable things. Watch Daria Kolosova’s boiler room set because I’m addicted.
